Student Spotlight: Edlyne, Founder of Kukui Soapery
Share
In 2025, Edlyne joined our online Botanical Soap-Making Course with a quiet dream and a deep desire to rediscover her purpose. Today, she is the founder of Kukui Soapery, a brand rooted in intention, wellness, and eco-luxury.
Below is her story, in her own words.
Tell us a little about yourself
“I have a double name: some call me Edlyne, and others call me Aylin, my ‘home’ name. I’m also a wife and proud mother of a beautiful daughter, from Jakarta, Indonesia.”

What were you doing before soapmaking?
“I used to work as a Makeup Artist while also working at a brokerage company. After my daughter was born, I went through postpartum and decided to quit my jobs so I could focus fully on her. But I lost my sense of purpose and didn’t know what my worth was.”
Motherhood changed everything. What followed was a quiet period of searching.
How did you first discover soapmaking?
“One day, while mindlessly scrolling online, I saw an advertisement for a soap-making course. I thought, ‘This is so unique!’ and immediately signed up. The course took place in a simple group chat: we watched videos, then tried everything ourselves. Even though the lessons were short, I loved it.”
That simple decision became the beginning of something much bigger.
What drew you so deeply to this craft?
“I’ve always been drawn to things that align with health and nature, because I believe we are all part of the universe, living alongside and supporting one another. And I’ve also always enjoyed hands-on work and creating beauty, and soapmaking brings all together.”
Soapmaking became more than a skill. It became alignment.

How did you continue developing your skills?
“Wanting to deepen my skills, I kept learning from other experts through one-on-one sessions, group workshops and online classes. One of my biggest inspirations was Chalke Valley Soaps on Instagram. I admired her and longed to study with her, but distance and zone differences made it impossible…at first. When she finally launched her online course, I signed up right away, and I’m so glad I did.”
In 2025, that opportunity finally became reality.
How did the course impact you?
“The course exceeded my expectations. It was comprehensive and detailed, broadening my knowledge and answering questions I’d struggled with for months. Helga was wonderfully helpful, answering every one’s questions.”

When did Kukui Soapery come to life?
“With the wealth of knowledge I gained, through her course and e-books, I began refining my own soap recipes. I wanted every bar I made to have a positive impact. That’s when Kukui Soapery was born: a place where pure intentions, safe ingredients, and good energy come together to create high-vibe, eco-luxury soaps for everyone.”
Kukui Soapery isn’t just a brand. It’s an extension of intention, healing, and rediscovered purpose.

What is your vision for the future?”
“In the next five years, I will grow Kukui Soapery into a leading brand in wellness, beauty, and sustainability. I will continually evolve toward eco-living mission by partnering with local artisans; adopting recyclable and sustainable packaging; and engaging customers who embrace mindfulness through self-care practices and a green-living lifestyle.”
Her words are clear. Her direction is set. Her energy is grounded.
